User Accounts:
- distribution of cryptocards/yubikeys: approximately 15 modeling mentors, 2 organizers from Michigan and 30 students: modeling mentors will receive yubikeys in early/mid May, students will receive them on the first day of the summer school
- are there restrictions on cryptocards/yubikeys, e.g. concerning participants from certain countries. We have applications from China, India, Russia, Germany, England, France and maybe some other foreign countries? There are no restrictions for these countries.
Data:
- data handling and storage during the summer school on NCAR's glade server, estimate: 10 TB will be made available
- disk space, visualization capabilities on the glade server: NCL,NCO are available
- organizational aspects of the data storage on glade: directory structure, accessibility by all: yes
- NCAR account needed for a NOAA administrator
- data transfer to a NOAA server (Boulder) during and after the summer school, is 'rsync' possible: yes
- transfer speeds between NOAA (Boulder) and NCAR: unknown, needs to be tested: Luca started talking to Davide Del Vento
Computing and Support:
- use of NCAR's IBM (Bluefire), and CRAY
- dedicated queue and coordination with the CGD CESM Tutorial:
16 dedicated nodes (with 32 processors) possible during the daytime, needs revised estimate
- software support (porting) for modeling group through CISL's help desk from late April/early May 2012 onwards: Davide Del Vento, email to cislhelp@ucar.edu
- computing and equipment support during the summer school at the FL lab (general advice how to logon, print, etc., possible installation of extra power strips in FL meeting rooms, advice on visualization software NCL): help is organized (Jennifer Willamson)
- can CISL provide some backup laptops if needed by mentors or students:5-7 laptop reserved (Jennifer Williamson)
- GAUs, reallocation issues,
our original September 2011 GAU proposal had been awarded with a total of 540k GAUs:
450k GAUs on the new Wyoming supercomputer
40k GAUs on bluefire
50k GAUs on the Janus cluster (NCAR & CU)

- can a netCDF CF-compliance checker be installed on the NCAR glade server: yes, will be done by Sidd Gosh
